21May

At Kids 1st Nurseries, we love celebrations! Weddings, birthdays, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Halloween, Christmas, Eid, Diwali, Holi, you name it! Celebrating is a great way to teach children about traditions, as well as allowing for their creativity, cognitive and motor skills to develop through all the puzzles, games and activities that they get involved with at nursery, particularly on special occasions. Knowing that there was a Royal Wedding happening on Saturday, we knew we couldn't miss the opportunity to do something especial at nursery to celebrate the occasion. So, on Friday, 18th May, we hosted a royal tea party at all our nurseries, and asked the children to come in dressed in red, white and blue, or as princesses and princes.

We couldn't be everywhere at the same time, so this time, we chose to document the party at Kids 1st Gosforth.

Upon arrival at Kids 1st Gosforth we were immediately excited to see so many decorations both outside and inside the nursery. From photos of Meghan and Harry spread throughout the nursery, all the way to the decorative flags and an appropriate playlist echoing through the halls, we immediately felt like royalty as soon as we walked through the nursery's front doors!

The decorations were great, and everyone was so excited to go outside and enjoy a lovely royal afternoon tea! Before the party started, however, the children played inside; some with toys, and others with different shapes in a giant soft pool.

Before going outside to sit at the royal table, ready to enjoy their royal biscuits, cakes and sandwiches, the children sat on the carpet and sang a few songs, before being handed their own personal flag, which they'd coloured at nursery - a very important asset on a Royal Tea Party, of course!

While singing, the children put on some sunscreen. The weather was wonderful, and at Kids 1st Nurseries we always make sure that everyone is protected from the sun rays! Then, and just before the children headed outside, they washed their hands with lots of soap.

At last, it was time to go outside and enjoy some yummy food! The children sat on the little chairs with crowns on their heads and holding the flags they designed themselves. We asked if there were any hungry tummies around the table, and the children were very quick to express how excited they were to have some cake.

The royal cart arrived, with lots of sandwiches, biscuits and cake. If only you'd been there to see the reaction of these little ones! They were clapping, smiling and giggling, so excited to be treated like royalty and eat some yummy treats!

Some children were very prompt to ask questions about what was for tea, so we explained all the goodies that were in the cart, and they were dying to try everything!

Finally, it was time to eat. Our Seahorses wasted no time, and frankly, we don't blame them. Everything on their cart looked delicious!!

As the children were given their snacks, we started wondering what the rest of the kids were up to. We wondered if the Dolphins and Puffins were as excited as these little ones about having their own royal party. So, we moved next door, only to find a huge table with lots of excited, happy and bubbly children waiting for their cake and royal sandwich.

Singing songs and telling us about their favourite part of the day so far, the Dolphins chatted away as we walked around the different tables. They could not wait to have some cake! And soon...it was time to eat!

We know what you're thinking...'did someone save me a slice of cake?'...

The children were quick to finish their sandwiches, and moved on to dessert in a blink of an eye! Yum! They also had a glass of fresh water to drink.

Some children enjoyed more than one sandwich, but we did not forget to make sure everyone ate their veggies. Red and green sweet peppers were also a part of this exciting tea party to celebrate the Royal Wedding, and they were being distributed among the children. At Kids 1st Nurseries, we understand the importance of good nutrition, hence why we encourage a healthy diet with plenty of vegetables.

Once all the tummies were full, it was time to go play in the garden. Going down the slide, riding bycicles, pretending to work at a restaurant and taking orders from tables were only some of the activities that the children got involved with.

Showing off their beautiful outfits: dresses, hats and incredible shoes, these preschoolers ran around the playground and even lined up for some photographs.

The day was going great so far, and the weather was wonderful! The children then joined in for a game of Marco Polo with one of the nursery nurses, and this activity had them entertained and giggling for ages! Watching the children run around, laughing and helping their peers throughout the game was amazing, as we got to witness all the different personalities of each child shine through.

We had an amazing afternoon at Kids 1st Gosforth. We were so impressed by all the decorations, the level of dedication and hard work put towards organising such event, and of course, the excitement of these children, who celebrated the royal wedding as mini-royalties themselves!

We couldn't finish this post without sharing a few more photos we took at Kids 1st Gosforth last Friday. The atmosphere at nursery was so incredible! We can't wait to go back for more fun days like this one. See you soon, Kids 1st Gosforth!
