At Kids 1st, we like to go all out to make sure that the children enjoy Christmas. Whether it's through activities, Christmas books, Christmas films or even Christmas songs, we perceive this season as one to be kind to one another. During this season, we adapt our activities with the intent of getting the children excited about this time of the year. Last Friday, 15th December's activities at the nursery were a great example of that. Knowing that Santa was coming to the nursery to spend time with the children was another great reason for us to drive to Durham to photograph the event. The children were super excited and couldn't wait to see Santa. On this blog post, we will share the experience and pictures we took of the event.

As soon as we walked through the nursery doors, we immediately felt Christmas spirit all over the rooms! The hall was decorated with LED lights, Christmas wreaths, and even a beautifully decorated Christmas tree! They had bunting all over the walls, there were mood boards with Christmas themed arts and crafts all over the nursery, and there were Christmas songs being played in every single room. Room by room, we greeted the staff and played with the children.

Before Santa arrived, all the children were doing their usual activities, being read books, playing with toys, watching Christmas movies, singing Christmas songs.

Playing with Santa and penguin figurines was really fun for these two children. They were both wearing a Christmas jumper, which added an extra touch of Christmas to the festive atmosphere lived in the nursery.

We noticed some children were all dressed up, wearing Christmas jumpers, reindeer hoodies, and some really fun outfits! We particularly loved that Santa outfit.

As we got closer to Santa's arrival time, the children became even more excited and happy, wondering what presents Santa would bring them...As we asked around the room what presents the children had asked for Christmas, we heard everything from doll houses to motorcycles (real ones!). One by one the children told us what presents they wanted from Santa, and they all guaranteed us they had been very good children this year. It was now up to Santa to decide...

Lunch time went by really quickly! Of course all the children finished up their plates - they knew Santa would come quicker if all the food was in their tummies.

And...just like magic...there he was! The one and only Santa Claus! But before the presents, everyone sang some songs chosen by the children. Santa Got Stuck In Chimney and We Wish You A Merry Christmas were some of the favourite tunes chosen.

Then it was time to tell Santa what each children wanted this year for Christmas. Motorcycles, doll houses, puzzles and books were some of the most requested presents. There was even a request for a Reindeer!

Santa then distributed some presents around the room, calling the children by their names, one by one! The children were so tempted to open them right there and then, but Santa reminded them they should wait for Christmas Eve. We think waiting will be the hardest part of Christmas for these excited little ones, don't you think?

The event was a success, and every child had an amazing time chatting with Santa, and singing Christmas songs. We're sure those faces with light up on Christmas Eve as they all open their presents!
