Last week was an exciting week for Kids 1st Nurseries, particularly for two of our nurseries. Kids 1st Low Fell had their parent play days on Thursday, where the parents got to join their children in lots of fun activities, while other nurseries, such as Kids 1st Gosforth had a very special visit from Sherbert, the Metrognome on Wednesday, 18th!

But let's start from the beginning...

After having raised the most money for Amélie Holden, to help buy an Ipad Pro to help with her communication development, the nursery won a visit from Sherbert, the Metrognome earlier in the week. The children at Kids 1st Gosforth were anything but shy and everyone wanted to meet and greet Sherbert, who distributed hi fives to all the little ones.

Some children took their time, but eventually everyone warmed up to Sherbert, and even the Chronicle couldn't miss the opportunity to be present and photograph such event!

We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day, and after the initial introductions, the children gathered around Sherbert in a circle, out in the gardens, ready to show those smiles to the cameras. Ready...steady...go! The children were jumping up and down, waving and smiling repeatedly in excitement. Sherbert was thrilled to be there, in the presence of all the youngsters.

You would think that the star of the show was, Sherbert. However, it was our little Amélie! Not Sherbert, nor the Chronicle, not even us! The biggest star of the day was our little Amélie, who enjoyed Sherbert's presence and loved to take photographs with him.

Several hi-fives later, it was time for Sherbert to go, so we took a few last-minute photos before the goodbyes. Amélie stood at the front, smiling at the cameras.

Very curious, she kept looking around her, smiling at her peers, nursery nurses, and even at Sherbert. Then, it was time for the final goodbyes.

What an incredible day at Kids 1st Gosforth! The Chronicle have already published their article about our star Amélie, and you can read what they had to say about the event here

But last week was far from over! On Thursday, 19th July, Kids 1st Low Fell hosted a Parent Play Days event at nursery, in which the parents joined the children outside in the gardens for lots of fun games. Eggs-on-spoon races, relay-races and more, the children were ready to show their parents what they were made of, and we documented it all!

But before we go any further, let's meet the teams, who were split in colours: yellow, green, blue and red!

Once the team photos were taken, the parents slowly started to arrive. The children then sat with their teams forming a line, just like they'd practiced. And just before the parents walked into the garden, all the teams excitingly cheered, clapped and sang songs, waiting for the games to begin.

Some parents showed incredible dedication to supporting their child's team, by wearing the same colour shirt as their child. The children got to go first and played a game of tag. The red and blue teams were off to a great start! But first, it was time for a warm-up. The nursery staff conducted a quick warm-up, and soon everyone was ready to go!

The children jogged on the spot and did a few exercises. Then, it was show time!

The toddlers all gave incredible performances during the first game, and they cheered up their peers enthusiastically.

Egg and spoon races, bean bag races, and as the afternoon went on, these adorable children giggled their way through the games. With great fair play, no one gave up , even if they didn't finish first!

Soon, it was the parent's turn to show their skills on the playground. Split in teams of dads versus moms, the parents took turns and played a few games. This time, it was the little one's turn to sit out and cheer their moms and dads. We have to say, the competition was fierce!

Moms went first... Ready...set...go!

Then, it was dads' turn.

After the games, it was time to hand out all the medals and diplomas.

What an incredible week at Kids 1st Nurseries. Parent play days are a unique and special way for the nursery staff, children and parents to enjoy life at nursery from different perspectives. While for the children they're a phenomenal way to engage with their parents through play and games, in a safe nursery environment, for the parents, spending time with their children at nursery and being a part of the fun gives them a chance to bond with their children.

Last week was full of activities and events, and we can't wait to see what next week holds for Kids 1st Nurseries. See you soon!
