It was way overdue! Last Monday, 26th February we finally visited Kids 1st Wynyard for the first time. It was about time Kids 1st Wynyard had its own blog post, right?

The nursery was beautifully organised, well-kept and clean. The different rooms were divided in sections for reading, sensory play, drawing, and so many more activities for the children to enjoy on a daily basis.

The corridors were also filled with arts and crafts, drawings made by the children, seasonal posters and information, and the list goes on! As soon as we arrived, we joined the children outside in the gardens for some outdoor activities. We had lots of fun watching the children run around the gardens, using the slide and playing with toys. The children were super photogenic and let us take lots of photos, showing nothing but smiley faces.

Playing in the gardens gives children the freedom that they need to explore, play and develop their motor, cognitive and social skills. At Kids 1st Nurseries, we understand the importance of outdoor play for the children's development.

Being outside and surrounded by nature allows children to experience an ever-changing and free-flowing environment that stimulates all the senses. Interacting with natural environments allows children to learn by doing and experimenting with ideas. In nature, children think, question, and make hypotheses - thereby developing inquisitive minds.

When children play outdoors there may be opportunities to interact with new and different playmates. In nature, children can play alone or connect with one another, learn to share and problem solve. When exploring outside, school-age children may not be in close proximity to adults, which gives them the opportunity to make up their own rules and solve their own problems, without inhibition.

While the children continued to enjoy the gardens and playing outside, we've decided to go inside and check what the children were up to in all the other rooms.

From playing pretend-doctors to reading, drawing, spending time at the sensory play areas, there was enough going on at Kids 1st Wynyard to fill an entire book of activities!

The children loved the camera and wouldn't stop showing us the biggest smiles...

In one of the rooms, the children were enjoying play-dough, coming up with different shapes and designs, using many different tools.

Whilst some were enjoying play-dough, other children were exploring different paper textures and drawing some very interesting shapes, animals, and objects. While drawing helps with the children's imagination, colouring helps with their motor skills, develops their language, improves their handwriting and even helps with their self-esteem! At Kids 1st Nurseries, we give the children the freedom to play and explore different things that help towards their development.

Some children enjoyed dressing up and using different accessories like this amazing cowboy hat! How stylish!
As much as we were having so much fun with these little ones, it was time to check out the babies' room and see what the Starfish were up to.

From playing in a sandbox to enjoying the ball pool, the babies were having the time of their lives at Kids 1st Wynyard.

Even the babies couldn't help but smile at the camera. This little one, for example, was enjoying this pink toy very much.

Sensory play lays a crucial foundation for later learning skills. Stimulating senses through play sends signals to the brain which help develop its ability to identify objects and explore the world. Learning to differentiate sharp from round, smooth from rough, cold from warm is a basic step in empowering the brain’s ability to discover, classify and sort more sophisticated information later through life.

Soon it was lunch time, and there were a lot of hungry tummies in the room, which explained a lack of smiles around the table.

But once the food was served, one by one the children's faces lit up as they enjoyed their nutritious and delicious meal.

We've had an amazing time at Kids 1st Wynyard! We took so many photos of the children and the nursery that it's impossible to share them all on a single post. Kids 1st Wynyard is a great nursery, with fantastic staff and children, and we can't wait to go back. But before we say goodbye and wrap up this blog post, we'd like to share a few more photos we took at Kids 1st Wynyard, because we truly believe they speak for themselves...

We honestly can't wait to go back. See you soon, Kids 1st Wynyard!
