Last Friday, 12th January, we visited our Kids 1st Hexham nursery. Just like all Kids 1st nurseries, Hexham's has been designed with a fresh and homely feel to ensure each child can experience inspiring educational activities indoors and outdoors. Last Friday, 5th January, we headed over to our Jesmond's nursery to get to know the staff, the nursery and the children. We helped out with lunch time, and we played with the children while they did their usual activities. Painting and play-dough were some of the activities of the day. Young children need the opportunity to use their whole body and develop their gross motor skills. It's only when they have mastered these that they will be able to control their fine motor skills, such as using a knife and fork or holding a pencil! Many of the fundamental tasks that children must achieve, such as exploring, risk-taking, fine and gross motor development and the absorption of vast amounts of basic knowledge, can be most effectively learned though outdoor play. On the 29th November we visited Kids 1st Sunderland to spend time with the children, taking lots of pictures and playing in the snow!
