Last Monday, 5th February we visited Kids 1st Rake Lane for some pictures. We had a wonderful time playing with the children, being able to watch their Little Rescuers session (a course designed to teach first aid and life saving skills to nursery and primary aged children through fun, play, music and teamwork), participating in their games, and so much more! Nothing can replace the role human interaction plays in a child’s growth and development, especially when it comes to acquiring language and developing communication skills. Last Friday, 5th January, we headed over to our Jesmond's nursery to get to know the staff, the nursery and the children. We helped out with lunch time, and we played with the children while they did their usual activities. Painting and play-dough were some of the activities of the day. Young children need the opportunity to use their whole body and develop their gross motor skills. It's only when they have mastered these that they will be able to control their fine motor skills, such as using a knife and fork or holding a pencil! Many of the fundamental tasks that children must achieve, such as exploring, risk-taking, fine and gross motor development and the absorption of vast amounts of basic knowledge, can be most effectively learned though outdoor play. That's right! Santa visited our Durham nursery last Friday, 15th December. All the children were beyond excited to see Santa and, of course, get some presents! On the 29th November we visited Kids 1st Sunderland to spend time with the children, taking lots of pictures and playing in the snow! We visited Kids 1st Durham on Monday, 27th November. The nursery shines with an inviting atmosphere, modern looking building, creative art on the walls and staircase, providing an exciting and stimulating environment for children.
