Visiting Kids 1st Quorum was a very pleasant way to spend our Tuesday morning. We were beyond excited to meet all the children, and take part in a wide variety of activities that took place, including the Tumbles and Grumbles session where the children are given the confidence and knowledge needed in those crucial minutes before the Emergency services arrive. Tumbles and Grumbles courses specialise in Paediatric First Aid for your baby, toddler and child. We've photographed the session and documented all the activities that took place at Kids 1st Quorum on Tuesday, 23rd January.

The nursery was very organised, with clean rooms and creative drawings on the walls and other artwork imagined by our little ones themselves! These tiny projects were pinned to the walls and they brightened up the corridors and rooms around the nursery. The play areas were super tidy. Each room also complied with health and safety policies, such as having a first aid kit, having all electrical sockets away from the children's reach, having age appropriate toys. There were no dolls or animals with button eyes, for example, as these are a safety hazard. Kids 1st nurseries care for the safety and well-being of your child, and all of our nurseries comply with these safety procedures.

Our first room was the Starfish room, where the babies played with different toys, crawled around the room, sang sons and played peek-a-boo! Peek-a-boo is thought by developmental psychologists to demonstrate an infant's inability to understand object permanence.  In early stages, the infant is completely unable to comprehend object permanence. This game represents an important stage of cognitive development for infants.

Other babies, however,  preferred 'driving cars' around the room, laughing and giggling while the nursery nurses supervised this exciting activity!

If we had to pick a favourite, this would be it! A room with a slide? How cool is it to have a slide indoors?

After a few pictures of these photogenic children, we then went into a different room to see what the children were up to. As it was almost time for the Tumbles and Grumbles session, we've decided to check out the session and take a few photos of this lesson.

During the session, the children learned about what to do in case of an emergency. They sang a postcode song, and learned who to contact, what to say and how to say it.  After the children mastered the theory, it was time to put it all to practice and have a little fun with it!

Learning what to do in case of an emergency is super important, even for children! As children are vulnerable, it is important that they are prepared to act in emergency situations. So, we've switched on those ambulance blue lights, and rehearsed a few scenarios. These scenarios included a victim who burned their hands with a candle, with hot water and we even used a hair straightener as an example. The children were quick to name each item inside the circle where our victim stood.

Then, we rehearsed a few checks to always be aware of when there's a victim: are they awake? Are they responsive? Can they talk?

Once the acting was over and the victim safe and well, we moved on to some exciting experiments with coke and mints! (I know some grown-ups out there will be jealous right now...but that's exactly what we did next)! Grouped in three or four, the children shared a bottle of coke and one mint and dropped it inside the bottle. Then it was time to step back, watch the chemical reaction and laugh at all the bubbles coming out.

The session was a success! It was now time to check out the other rooms and see what else was happening at Kids 1st Quorum.

In one of the rooms, the children were exploring nature and learning about stick insects. This little group of curious minds had a chance to hold the insects in their hands and laugh as the tiny creatures tickled their palms.

The children also had a chance to ask some questions and observe the stick insects move around the container.

If you thought this was the only activity taking place in one room at Kids 1st Quorum, think again! There was so much going on in the same room that it was hard to document it all! Some children were drawing, other were having fun sorting out colours into plates, and some were building Lego towers. There were so many games and activities taking place!

All the children, from Starfish to Puffins, Dolphins, and Seahorses knew how to have fun and be creative.

The more we saw of Kids 1st Quorum, the more we liked it! Everything around the rooms, from the very design to all the books, games, toys and activities was planned to make your children take the most out of it. All the activities contributed to their development, a crucial element in these early stages of their lives.

For example, check out how pasta and dinosaurs make a great play area! It doesn't get any simpler than this, and the children at Kids 1st Quorum loved to play here. They got to explore different textures and feel the touch of different objects. Some even fed some pasta to the dinosaurs!

This pool of water did get messy at one point...but that's what made it so fun and enjoyable for the children. Because, at the end of the day, your feet should be dirty, your hair messy and your eyes sparkling. Right?

Mastering the art of drawing...

We had a blast at Kids 1st Quorum! The staff is brilliant, and the atmosphere lived in the nursery is happy and bright. Kids 1st nurseries are committed to providing excellence in childcare, and just like the rest of them, Kids 1st Quorum is the living proof of this commitment. We hope to return to the nursery very soon.
